About Us

Computech Alarms & Security aims to provide our clients with a sense of security and peace of mind against burglary and fire, by offering a rapid and expert service in the fields of installation, servicing and maintenance of security systems, access control systems, security cameras and other security products throughout the Eastern Bay of Plenty.
Computech Alarms started in June 1994 as a partnership and became a limited company in May 2001.  The directors are Colin and Carol Reid.  Both have previously run their own businesses in the past and been involved in security for many years prior to starting as Computech Alarms.  Colin is a fully trained alarm technician and is mainly in charge of the technical aspects of the business.  Carol is responsible for the running of the office with the help of  Louise Williams and TeWhe Mangu.  The company has two other full time technicians and monitoring staff; Peter Harland and Roy Turmel. Peter has vast experience with various alarms systems, having started working for Teleguard and being employed by that company under all the various business names that this company went through. Roy has had also had extensive experience in the UK. He has worked on various security systems but his specialty is Camera Systems. Roy often worked on camera systems for Railway Stations etc. where they may have 300 or more cameras on the site.
We are situated in and operate from Kawerau, the heart of the Bay of Plenty, which puts us in a very good position to service the entire Eastern Bay of Pleanty area. In 2002 we took over another company who were trading as "Watchdog Security & Fire". This move dramatically increased our customer base in Kawerau, Whakatane, Opotiki and the surrounding rural areas. We are now concentrating on consolidating our business as a local installation, monitoring and service company for all aspects of security.
In November 2009 we acquired a Whakatane based patrol company and have been doing security patrols and static guard work in and around Whakatane.  In May 2010 we were asked to start patrol services for some of our clients in Kawerau after a local contractor closed his business.  This was a sudden and unexpected expansion however it has progressed very well and means we can now offer patrol services in Whakatane, Taneatua, Awakeri, Edgecumbe and Kawerau.  We can also do response for Matata, Thornton, and other areas.
